I'm still alive

For those of you who didn't already know, I started a new job a week ago and consequently have not had the time to post much of anything. I hope you are all doing well. I am sure you all sorely miss hearing about my car or about how much I disapprove of our president or about how I am Mexican or about how adorable my niece is and all that jazz. I will do my best to post when I have the time but I wouldn't expect too much...not that you ever did anyway. I do hope you all had a good Thanksgiving and wish you all a merry Christmas and/or happy Channukah and/or Kwanzaa and/or whatever.

P.S. Happy Birthday to the best mom in the whole wide world: my mom. Te quiero, mama. Besos.

"I don't think you're ready for this jelly"

As promised, click on the picture for a visual tour de force of the absolute most adorable human being ever to walk this earth. Special thanks to the San Francisco Zoo, Benihana, Tartine, and my brother's house for allowing me to shoot this spread on location.

UPDATE (11/15): I just added some new pictures that my dad sent me from the weekend. Enjoy.

I want to meet these kids' parents

I am back from 3 full days of the cutest little face in the whole wide world. I will post pictures soon.

Another Good Cause

Here is another opportunity (click here for previous opportunity) to help out the students at my brother's school. Here is what he says about it:

By clicking the link below, you enter a portal to hundreds of online stores, including big names like Target, Barnes&Noble, and many, many more. The prices and websites are the same, but if you go through this portal, then the MHS ELL department gets a percentage of each sale! Why not save this to your "favorites" and always check here before buying something online? It doesn't cost you anything extra, and it helps our kids.

Please forward this URL to everyone you can think of that won't hate you for sending them this e-mail! Put it in blogs and on bulletin boards, and help public education! Here's the link:

Thanks so much!

"I believe in miracles..."

"Where you from, you sexy thing?"

6 months, 11 days, 19 hours and 11 seconds....give or take. This is not a drill. This is the real thing. Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let's have a feast and celebrate...for this car of mine was dead and is alive again; it was lost and is found.

"I'm not sleeping...Oh no, no, no."

Saw these guys last night at Staples. After helping Mike D move in over the last week and, in the process, depriving myself of sufficient sleep, it was a welcome reward...sleep or no sleep. The show also made up for the debacle that was the PopMart tour where I saw them for the first and only other time at Jack Murphy stadium way back in April of '97 (though seeing Rage open for them wasn't too bad). The seats were amazing...right behind the stage so we got to see the crowd all looking in our direction. And to top it all off, they sang my 3 favorite songs of theirs: "Where The Streets Have No Name," "With Or Without You" and "Bad" (the closing song). They got some other good old ones in there, too.

One of my favorite parts, however, was in between songs when Bono was talking to the crowd...he said, "This is a band that believes in the future." With the world in the state that it's in (our country in particular), it is refreshing to hear someone who is optimistic about what we as humanity can accomplish. It was also refreshing to know that he spoke with a level of conviction that comes from going toe to toe with world leaders and challenging them to fight for the betterment of society. The idealist in me got all warm and fuzzy watching an arena full of people respond to these statements with a deafening roar of approval.

They just don't make bands the way they used to.

"One love, one blood, one life, you got to do what you should.
One life with each other: sisters, brothers.
One life, but we're not the same.
We get to carry each other, carry each other.
One, one." -U2
