Two years ago today, a young kid I know named Danny was hit by a drunk driver while riding his bike. I forwarded
his dad's request for prayer when I heard. His journey since then has been one of ups and downs all chronicled by his adoring father passed on to friends, family and well-wishers through email. I was privileged enough to have played ice hockey with Danny and his father Jeff and through that connection have kept tabs on Danny's progress.
It has been amazing to hear how his family have never stopped hoping and praying for his continuing recovery. It is also encouraging to hear how that recovery is going from time to time. I recall how much it put life in perspective when I heard about the accident two years ago. It is still a good reminder of how crucial it is to focus on the things in life that are most important.
So the next time you stop to ponder life, remember Danny and his courageous journey. Life is a gift from God that should not be wasted on petty things.
Love the Lord your God and love your neighbor as yourself.
