To this I say "Well said."

This article may very well be one of the most well stated viewpoints on the present day reality of the effects that remain from one of the ugliest pages of our nation's past (I can't believe it took me so long to finally read it). While I was in college, I had the privilege of learning a great deal about race and how much it mattered with an amazing group of friends from very different cultures. Fittingly, these discussions were dubbed "Race Matters" and were focused on being real, honest and proactive about healing the wounds of prejudice and racism. Until now, I have never really seen anything so publicly mirror the sentiments of those gatherings. I commend and admire Ms. Browne for her courage in speaking about such a volatile issue which is almost sure to possibly offend and/or enrage people. I can only hope that more people will display a similar amount of bravery and do something about this issue rather than claim it does not exist.
